The only option for poor families to education their children is government schools. But education standards, teaching techniques and the examination system in public sector institutions have left much to be desired. In one sense we are destroying our future generation.
The government sets aside funds for the free distribution of books at government schools in every budget but it hardly bothers to take steps to improve the learning environment for students. If it cannot give them a good environment, how can we expect them to excel in their studies? The education ministry should be channelling funds to improve the overall environment in schools.
