A new study program, post graduate diploma in teaching in technical education, B.ED, has been launched at the University of Karachi, the dean faculty of education, Prof Dr Shagufta said on Thursday.
The one-year program has been started in collaboration with a German university, Kaiserslautern Technical University and the provincial government`s Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA).
Prof Shagufta said the study program was launched in view of developing trained teachers for technical educational institutions in the country.
She said that the vice-chancellor of University of Karachi signed the MoU under his vision to develop linkage between the two universities as well as start a new program in the varsity. “Teacher development is very much important in a developing country to invigorate the future of children,” she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Uwe Wickenburg, the representative of the German university said the programme will bring forward a group of trained teachers with skills in teaching methodology.
