Islamabad: The launching ceremony of Dr Rasheed Amjad’s book ‘Gamlay Mein Uga Hua Shehr’ published by NBF was organised and hosted by Professor Qaisra Alvi and Hameed Alvi here, says a press release.
The keynote article was read by Dr. Musarrat Parveen Neelam, former principal of the Federal College for Women, G-10/4, Islamabad. She spoke highly of Dr. Rasheed Amjad’s short stories. She said the author has skilfully expressed the modern sensibility and artistically portrayed his characters according to different situations.
A large number of scholars, writers and dignitaries attended the function and spoke about the remarkable literary work of Dr. Rasheed Amjad. Those who participated included Akram Zaki, Masood Mufti, Farida Hafeez, Shaukat Kazmi, Irum Abida, Dr. Qasim Bughio, Dr. Anwar Naseem, Laeeq Toor, Zubair Qureshi and Hasan Zaidi among others. While discussing the book, they said that the National Book Foundation is playing a vital role in providing quality books to the readers.
Dr. Rasheed Amjad thanked Professor Qaisra Alvi and all his friends and said that he would always remember these moments. “There is no decline in the book-reading culture but the real responsibility lies upon the shoulders of teachers to promote the book-reading habit in the young generation.
On the occasion, Dr. Rasheed Amjad read out his short story titled 'Dukh Eik Chiria Hai' which was applauded by the participants.
