Khattak says govt committed to developing KP
Waives off installments of Durrani Media Colony, announces Rs10m grant for Peshawar Press Club

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government had carried out all the legislation in consultation with the opposition parties.
He said that those who had an unblemished character should not be afraid of new rules, adding that the corrupt would have to face the music for their misdeeds. The chief minister was speaking at a function after administering oath to the office-bearers of the Peshawar Press Club at the Chief Minister’s House.
He also held an Iftar dinner for the journalists. Provincial Information Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Peshawar Press Club President Syed Bukhar Shah and members of the governing body were present on the occasion. Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Afzal Butt also spoke on the occasion.
The chief minister said the PTI-led government was committed to changing the system in two years. He said that the government had introduced many reforms to ensure good governance. Pervez Khattak said that the people should be informed about the performance of the government. He said that the past rulers had not served the masses.
The chief minister said that the employees of the health and education departments should perform duties diligently to serve the people instead of staging protests causing inconvenience to the poor people.
He said that those elements should be discouraged who were staging protests and creating problems for the poor. He said that the media outlets should also avoid giving coverage to such elements who were trying to create problems for the government.
Taking the credit for holding the local government elections in the province, he said that powers had been devolved at the grassroots level to empower the people at the grassroots.The chief minister said his government had brought in reforms to do away with the thana and patwar culture. “We are committed to providing clean drinking water, health and education facilities to the people. Now jobs are being provided on merit,” he asserted.
He said uplift schemes were being carried out in every nook and corner of the province without any discrimination. He said the government would develop all the districts in the province. The chief minister said that project of the Peshawar Model Town would be undertaken to provide accommodation facilities to all the people, including the journalists.
He said the mega project would generate five to 10 billion rupees revenue for the provincial government.Pervez Khattak announced to waive off the remaining installments of the Durrani Media Colony that were to be paid by the journalists.
