Four alleged target killers remanded to Rangers

Four alleged target killers were handed over to the Sindh Rangers on a 90-day preventive detention on Saturday.
A law officer of the Rangers told the administrative judge of an anti-terrorism courts (ATC) that Rizwan alias Baagh, Muhammad Qadir Khan, Muhammad Nasir Ali alias Zaki were arrested in the New Town police station area, whereas another accused, Hussain Ali, was apprehended in the Kharadar police station jurisdiction.
The alleged target killers were said to be involved in heinous crimes, including gathering extortions in different areas.
Presenting an informative notification before the court, the officer said the four accused were arrested under Section 11-EEEE of Pakistan Protection Act due to their involvement in target killings and other crimes.
Endorsing the apprehension notification, the judge also issued a directive to the home secretary to set up joint investigation teams to probe the allegations against the four accused.
Police party attack case
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday rejected the report submitted by the police in a case pertaining to the attack on a police team at a pumping station in Baldia Town.
Police officials submitted before the court that no evidences were found against the two accused – Asad Khan and Owais – of attacking the police team which was deployed in Baldia Town to retaliate against the water theft at the pumping station.
In this regard, a charge sheet was submitted to the administrative judge of the ATC, stating that the investigators did not find evidences against the accused.
The report was submitted under Section 497 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) according to which there were no evidences against the accused of attacking the police party.
After going through the report, the judge declined the report and transferred the case to the ATC concerned for further trial. It observed that the report cannot be accepted. The court will decide the matter after recording statements of the applicant and witnesses.
Charge sheet presented
A charge sheet was presented before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday against two political workers in the murder case of a police official.
According to the charge sheet submitted by the police, police officer Tabish was gunned down by the two accused - Shahnawaz and Muhammad Hussain - on September 15, 2015 in Karachi’s Azizabad area.
The police claimed that the assailants had attacked a police party when they were barred by it from taking extortion in the area.
The purpose of attack was to spread fear and panic among residents of the area and intimidate the police, the charge sheet added.
Accepting the charge sheet, the administrative judge transferred the case to ATC concerned for further trial.
