‘Mehfil-e-Ramazan’ held at AIOU

Allama Iqbal Open Univesity (AIOU) here on Thursday held a ‘Mehfil-e-Ramazan’ to project teachings of Quran and Sunnah with special reference to the significance of the Holy month.

The event was arranged by the University’s Employees Welfare Association (EWA) to mark the beginning of the Holy month and to sensitise the students and the staff of its importance in daily life. Prominent religious scholar Dr. Habibur Rehman Asim was the key-note speaker.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui announced on the occasion that the university will regularly hold such functions for seeking guidance and aspirations from the Holy Book and the life of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (peace be upon him) for having a successful life here and hereafter. Ramazan is a month to seek maximum blessings of ‘Rehmat-e-Elahi’ and to submit ourselves before His Will, he added. He praised Dr. Asim for his thought-provoking talks on Quranic teachings.

Dr. Habibur Rehman enlightened the audience of the Holy month’s benefits for the people. About importance of Ramazan, he said the Holy book of eternal guidance was revealed upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in this month. He underlined the need of observing the month with due reverence and commitment to seek Allah’s blessings and His forgiveness.

 The Holy Quran, he said serves as complete code of guidance to mankind. A fasting person’s aim is to attain purity of thought and action.

During this month the personality of a Muslim develops so that during the rest of the year, the trained Muslim does not commit wrong under unrestricted conditions.

Ramadan is a month to purify ourselves. He stressed that every individual must read Quran with its meaning to understand true message of Islam and his role in the society. We also need to follow the right path in line with Quranic teaching for seeking Allah’s blessings, he added.
