Couple killed in road accident

OKARA: A speeding bus killed a married couple on GT Road near Akhtarabad on Wednesday. Elahi Buksh, of village 49/WD, Vehari, and his wife Nasreen Bibi were moving to Lahore on their motorcycle, near Akhtarabad on the GT Road a speeding bus hit them. As a result, they both died on the spot. Renala Sadar police arrested the bus driver and impounded the bus after registering a case.

 

Soldier gunned down in Mohmand

GHALLANAI: Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday shot dead a soldier in lower Mohmand Agency, official sources said.They said the gunmen fired at Subedar Naveed Khan of the Khassadar force in Omar Banda area in Yakaghund Tehsil, killing him on the spot. The slain soldier was laid to rest in a graveyard in Omar Banda.

Meanwhile, the body of a tribesman Jamal Shah, who was kidnapped by unknown persons from Bhai Kor area in Yakaghund, was found dumped in a seasonal stream in Yakaghund.Jamaatul Ahrar, a breakaway faction of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, claimed responsibility for both the incidents. Ihsanullah Ihsan, the spokesman of the Jamaatul Ahrar, telephoned media persons to claim responsibility for these attacks. He also claimed responsibility for the yesterday’s explosion caused by an improvised explosive device in Safi Tehsil in Mohmand Agency. A man was killed.

 

Fesco special cell to monitor power supply to consumers

FAISALABAD: A special cell, under the supervision of Fesco Chief Executive Officer Rashid Ahmed Aslam, has been constituted at the Fesco headquarters to monitor the power supply to consumers. The members of the cell will remain present at the Fesco headquarters during Sehr and Iftar timings and Federal Secretary for Water and Power Muhammad Younas Dhaga will monitor the performance of all Distribution Companies (DISCOs) including Fesco through video conference. Similarly, Fesco complaint cell and federal complaint cell of the Ministry of Water and Power are working round the clock to redress the consumers’ pleas. Consumers can register their complaints at Fesco Toll Free No 0800-66554, 118 or federal complaint cell 051-9206834, 051-9103888 & 051-9204430. The consumers can also register their complaints online at the Ministry of Water and Power website: www.mowp.gov.pk.

 

Five girls abducted in Faisalabad incidents

FAISALABAD: Five girls were abducted in different incidents here. In the first incident, unidentified persons abducted the daughter of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Narwala. In the second incident, Iqra of Samanabad was allegedly abducted by Babu and four others. In the third incident, Salman and nine others allegedly abducted Rifat Bibi at D-Ground, People’s Colony. In the fourth incident, Hira of Chak 215/RB was allegedly abducted by Asif and four others. In the fifth incident Iram Bibi of Chak 39/GB was allegedly abducted by Abdul Samad and seven others. Police have registered separate cases and started investigation.

 

Another jobless man commits suicide in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Another jobless man committed suicide here on Wednesday. Muhammad Yousaf, a resident of Noorpur, had been jobless for the last many months. He was the father of six children. He was unable to provide food to his family. On the day of the incident, he ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills. Earlier, a jobless youth committed suicide at Chak 206/RB on Tuesday.

 

Three injured as police van hits bike

GUJRANWALA: Three people, including two women, were injured when a police van hit their motorcycle at Mandiala Warriach on Wednesday. A police raiding party was returning to the Cantonment police station when their van collided with a motorcycle. As a result, Qasim, his mother Razia and aunt Shabina received serious injuries. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122.

 

Child drowns in bid to avoid bus

MULTAN: A seven-year-old child drowned after he jumped into a canal in a bid to save his life from a bus near Head Nobahar Canal on Wednesday. Afzal of Vehari Chowk with his sister was standing along a canal when a bus appeared from the wrong side and the scared child jumped into the canal to save his life. On information, Rescue 1122 swimmers reached the spot and a launched a search operation. The body was not recovered till the filing of the report.

 

Labourer dies in well collapse

MULTAN: A 26-year-old labourer was killed in a well collapse  in Basti Nau on Wednesday. Laborer Muhammad Imran of Basti Malok was working inside the well when it collapsed, burying him under clay. On information, Rescue 1122 staffers reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. After the struggle of six hours, the rescue staffers recovered the body of Imran. One of his brothers Naseer had also died while digging a well two years ago.

 

Three human traffickers held

GUJRANWALA: The FIA arrested three human traffickers in different raids here on Wednesday. The FIA teams raided Baqarpura, Sialkot, Musawal and Nora Kot and arrested human traffickers Hafiz Dilawar Hussain, Shahzad and Moazzam Ahsan. All the accused were involved in sending people abroad illegally.

 

Wanted militant among four arrested in Kohat

KOHAT: A wanted militant and his three accomplices were arrested during a raid and arms and explosives were recovered from them, a police official said. “The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out a targetted operation on the Hangu Road in Kohat and arrested Gul Sher, Abdur Rehman, Mustajab and Wali Muhammad from a house in the city’s outskirts,” Superintendent of Police, Kohat Region, Ihsanullah Khan, told journalists here. “All the arrested men belong to Orakzai Agency. Gul Sher carried one million rupees bounty on his head,” he added. Police also recovered arms, explosives, prima cord and electric receivers from the possession of the arrested militants. The CTD official said the group had been involved in extortion as well as other heinous crimes including attacks on security forces and police personnel. He added the police have been conducting raids in various parts of the district to arrest the accomplices of the arrested men.

 

15 injured in clash between two families

BAHAWALPUR: Fifteen people were injured in a clash between two families at Mauza Ranaika near Bahawalnagar on Wednesday morning. There was a dispute over land route between Joiya and Chishti families. On the day of the incident, both groups attacked each other with clubs and axes. As a result, Muhammad Jahangir Chishti, Muhammad Anwar Chishti, Muhammad Azam Chishti, Alam Ali Chishti, Muhammad Anwar, Atif Joiya, Ahmad Iqbal, Mujahid, Ahmad Hassan, Qayyum, Munir and Khalid were injured. The injured people were shifted to the Bahawalnagar DHQ Hospital.

BISHAM: Around 45 primary schoolteachers recruited recently in various schools in Shangla district allegedly had fake degrees, sources said. The teachers, who were recently recruited, had allegedly acquired forged degrees from a private sector university in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. At least 55 other teachers using fake degrees were promoted as subject specialists in grade-17.
