New air conditioning system being

installed at Parliament House

ISLAMABAD: A new air conditioning system is being installed in the Parliament House at a cost of Rs 77 million. CDA Deputy Director Waqar Awan said the old system installed in 1982 had completed its age. Earlier, two plants of 765 tons capacity were installed, which were being replaced with two ACs of 800 tons capacity. He said the contract had been awarded through open auction, adding that installation of one plant was been completed and it has started functioning since June 3.

 

AJK Legislative Assembly elections on July 21

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chief Election Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Mughal announced on Monday the schedule for Legislative Assembly elections. Polling will take place on July 21, whereas 2,237,058 voters will exercise their right to franchise, including 1,211,842 males and 1,025,216 females. According to the code of conduct, candidates will be allowed to hold indoor/ corner meetings only and they will be required to obtain permission from their respective deputy commissioners for holding public meetings.

 

Militants’ hideouts shelled in Buner

MINGORA: Several militants were reported killed during a search operation in the Elam mountains in Buner district, official sources said on Sunday. The sources said that the forces launched a search operation in the Elam mountains after the reports of presence of militants. The Elam mountains separate Swat and Buner districts. “Several militants were killed in the operation in Elam,” an official source said, adding, gunship helicopters targetted the hideouts of militants in the mountains. Unconfirmed reports said that two soldiers were also killed in a clash with militants. When contacted, an official of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the operation was in progress but he would not comment on any human or material loss suffered by the forces.
