Karachi
The District Malir police on Sunday claimed to have gunned down three alleged militants of Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), including a commander, in the city’s Quaidabad area.
SSP Rao Anwaar said an intelligence agency had conveyed credible information to his team about the presence of AQIS members in Gulshan-e-Buner, Quaidabad.
He claimed a raid was conducted and, after a shootout, three suspects were arrested in an injured condition, while their associates managed to flee.
The injured terrorists, as per the officer, were moved to the JPMC but were pronounced dead on arrival. A Kalashnikov and two 9mm pistols were reportedly found at the hideout.
SSP Anwaar said one of the suspects was identified as Riaz alias Raja, a commander of the banned AQIS, while the two others were members of the militant outfit.
He claimed the terrorists had been planning an attack on an intelligence agency’s office and had completed their survey and that a senior LEA official was also among their targets.
He also claimed that they had been involved in target killings of Shia community members, cops and a docto.

The Sindh Rangers arrested four suspects, including target killers, during targeted raids.
A spokesman said a target killer of a notorious militant wing of a political party was arrested with eight SMGs, 2,630 rounds of ammunition and 40 packets of hashish.
Three criminals involved in robberies and street crimes were held in Landhi, Baldia Town, Shah Faisal Town and Orangi.
