Afghan peace
This refers to the news report, ‘Mullah Mansour droned in Balochistan: US’ (May 23). The US once again committed an unforgivable mistake when it droned Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour. His killing occurred at a time when the Afghan peace process was passing through a difficult phase. This brazen act constitutes a violation of international norms and is an attempt to sabotage the peace efforts made by the QCG of which the US is one of the members along with Pakistan, Afghanistan and China.
Mullah Mansour’s removal will lead to more bloodshed in war-ravaged Afghanistan. Neither the Afghan government nor its people consider the presence of foreign forces beneficial to the country. It is time foreign forces packed up so that regional countries can start working for peace in Afghanistan.
