ISLAMABAD: Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen and Jamiat Ulema Pakistan on Monday called on the government to fulfill its constitutional duty of ensuring protection of life and property of all the Pakistanis and shun expediency on this count.

The Milli Yakjehti Council and JUP President Dr. Sahibzada Abul Khair Zuber, leading a delegation, met MWM Secretary General Allama Nasir Abbas Jaffary here outside the National Press Club, where MWM is observing hunger strike against the target killing of Pakistanis, particularly Shias.

Dr. Zuber fully supported the peaceful protest campaign by Allama Nasir and asked the government to allay apprehensions and concerns of MWM. He lauded MWM for raising its voice for the suppressed and oppressed segments of the society. He strongly advocated investigation into recent Parachinar killings and award of exemplary punishment to the perpetrators.

All Pakistan Muslim League leader Dr. Amjad also visited the camp and expressed complete solidarity with Allama Nasir. He urged the government to immediately initiate dialogue with MWM leadership regarding their reservations about their security.

Allama Nasir alleged that the government had soft corner for certain banned outfits, who were indulging in terrorism even at a time when the National Action Plan was being implemented. He alleged the plan was being followed selectively on purpose. He cautioned the government not to under estimate their peaceful campaign and insisted they believed in resolution of issues through peaceful means.
