Nawaz wants to sabotage system

to conceal ‘corruption’: ex-PM

NANKANA SAHIB: Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should step down after the Panama Leaks scandal.

Addressing a press conference at the residence of former MPA Rai Shahjahan Bhatti here on Wednesday, he said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to sabotage the system to conceal his alleged corruption. He said: “The speech of Nawaz Sharif in the National Assembly has opened up new debate on the corruption of Nawaz Sharif.” He said that the government ToRs regarding Panama Leaks were an attempt to delay the investigation process. He said that restlessness was prevailing in the country due to the alleged corruption of the rulers.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said that the armed forces were eliminating terrorism from the country. He said that only PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto could define the party policy and no other had such right. He said that the statement by PPP leader Rehman Malik regarding resignation of Nawaz Sharif that he should not step down was his personal opinion. He said that the PPP adopted the policy of reconciliation for supremacy of the parliament and democracy and not to protect corruption of anyone. He said that the PPP would give tough time to the government. The former prime minister said that the PPP leaders faced charges bravely while the present rulers started weeping when they faced charges. He claimed that the PPP gave several facilities to the farmers during its tenure while the present government was allegedly snatching bread from them.

He said that the PPP strongly condemned the harsh attitude of the Evacuee Trust Property Board with its tenants in Nankana. He claimed that the PPP gave every type of relief to the tenants of the ETPB during its tenure.

PPP leaders Nadeem Afzal Chan, Rana Farooq Saeed, Ch Manzoor Ahmad, Syed Ibrar Hussain Shah, Rai Muhammad Aslam Kharral, Rana Ali Asghar, Malik Inamul Haq and Tanvir Akhtar were also present on the occasion. Earlier, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf held meetings with PPP workers and lawyers of the district.
