School renamed in Parachinar

PARACHINAR: Member National Assembly (MNA) Sajid Turi on Friday announced renaming the Government Primary School in Shakh as Shaheed Abbas Ali Primary School.Speaking in Shakh locality here, Sajid Turi said that Abbas Ali was killed when he stopped a suicide bomber from entering a mosque in Hayatabad in Peshawar.Lauding the bravery of Abbas Ali, he announced renaming the school as Shaheed Abbas Ali Primary School. He said that the school would be upgraded to middle level soon.Abbas Ali had studied at the same school.

 

Girl students block road

LAKKI MARWAT: The students of Frontier Education Foundation Girls College blocked the main Grand Trunk Road in Naurang on Friday to protest the attempt to close the institution. The protesting students were veiled. Holding banners and placards, they gathered on the road connecting Bannu with Dera Ismail Khan and Mianwali and closed it for vehicular traffic.The students told the local journalists that they had information about attempts to shut the college for paucity of funds.

Karak varsity to have Centre for

KARAK: A syndicate meeting of Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak has approved the establishment of Centre for Chinese Language and Culture and decided to launch a new department of Material Physics and Nino Technology from the next semester. The decisions were taken in the 6th syndicate meeting of the university held here on Friday. Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Khattak chaired the meeting. The syndicate approved three projects under the aegis of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).  It decided that Khushal Centre for Chinese Language and Culture would be established.

 

PTI activists stage sit-in outside Governor’s House

PESHAWAR: The activists of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Khyber Agency chapter Friday staged a sit-in outside Governor’s House against the Frontier Crimes Regulations and blocked the main Sher Shah Suri Road for several hours, causing serious hardships to the general public. The protest sit-in was led by agency president of the party, Iqbal Afridi. The protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands. The speakers on the occasion demanded of the government to scrap the Frontier Crimes Regulation. They said that there was a lack of basic facilities in the tribal areas. The protesters alleged that the rulers had embezzled funds worth billions of the tribal areas, while no facility was provided to the tribal people.
