Pakistan record second straight win
KARACHI: Pakistan recorded their second successive victory when they bulldozed Sri Lanka 56-23 in their game of the 3rd Asian Kabaddi Championship (circle style) at POF Wah on Tuesday.
The hosts kept control over the game from the first whistle till the last.
Pakistan’s prominent raiders former Pakistan captain Shafiq Chishti, Mohammad Maroof and Mohammad Waqas Butt did a fine job. The Sri Lankan stoppers were unable to prevent them from crossing the central line in the stipulated 30 seconds.
Waqas is playing in the event after staying away from international action for a couple of years due to fitness issues.
World-class stopper Sajjad Gujjar and vice-captain Musharraf Javed remained impressive in the defence. In the first half Pakistan were leading 30-6.
In the second half, Pakistan kept their dominance over the Sri Lankans and sealed a comfortable 56-23 victory.
Pakistan had crushed Iran 47-22 on Monday.
In other outings, strong India whipped emerging Afghanistan 48-20. Iran crushed Nepal 31-14.
Late Monday night, India defeated Sri Lanka 45-21 and Afghanistan overwhelmed Nepal 40-11.
On Wednesday (today), Pakistan face Afghanistan, India lock horns with Nepal and Iran meet Sri Lanka. The event is being held under a single league system.
