Rawalpindi: The Inter-Departmental Sports Competitions kicked off at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) here on Wednesday in a festive way and jubilant manner. The purpose of these competitions is to encourage students to take part in extracurricular and healthy activities. The university also provides the students with best facilities like latest sports equipment and professional coaches.
FJWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Samina Amin Qadir along with Controller Examination/Chairperson Sports Committee Dr. Bushra Inyat Raja and Professor Dr. Naheed Zia Khan (Dean FASS) inaugurated the sports gala.
Earlier during the opening ceremony, Deputy Director Sports Ms. Tasawar briefed about the sports event and schedules of different games. Martial Arts performance of the girls was one of the highlights of the opening ceremony. Students displayed Kate and Breaking (Martial Arts Types) in effective manner. Large number of faculty, students and staff attended the opening ceremony.
While speaking at the opening ceremony of the sports event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Samina Amin Qadir appreciated the efforts of the Controller Examination/Chairperson Sports Committee, Dr. Bushra, for conducting such events for the students and assured her full support to promote culture for sports in the university.
Sports Competitions, a regular feature of the Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, will continue till May 17 in the university premises with utmost fervour and gusto.
