Private hostels are not providing congenial environment to students -- both male and female -- who are forced to pay high charges against poor quality of basic facilities like food, water and sanitation.

Rawalpindi has reputed educational institutions which encourages students to come here but due to high cost of rental houses they are forced to stay in private hostels.

“The food and water being provided in private hostels is not hygienic that causes diseases among students, which includes food poisoning and throat infections. Ultimately the unhealthy students fail to concentrate properly on their studies,” said Tayyab Baloch, a student who lives in a hostel of Commercial Market.  Nadia Malik, a student residing in a female hostel in F-Block, said she was paying Rs 12,000 per month but the hostel management has failed to fulfil its promises because there is nothing except for a dirty room, unhygienic food and a dirty washroom and a kitchen.  She said the local administration must keep vigil over private hostels.
