NAB files reference against 37 officials
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday filed a reference against 37 persons, including two serving District Management Group (DMG) officials for allegedly misusing authority and embezzlement of funds.
The NAB filed a reference of Rs58.274 million against 37 persons, including Additional Secretary Planning and Development Dr Amber Ali, Director General Independent Monitoring Unit Zulfiqar Khan and Deputy Director Audit Muhammad Aslam Rafique for embezzling funds for NA-21, Mansehra.
Other officials are Muhammad Bashir, Abdul Majeed, Sheikh Amjad Hussain, Athar Jalil, Muhammad Razzaq, Khalid Mehmood, Dildar, Anjum Khan, Aftab, Lateefur Rehman, Asif Hussain, Muhammad Ijaz, Sajid Hayat, Gul Rahim, Wali Ahmad, Muhammad Sadique, Shah Nazar, Mushtaq Ahmad, Abdul Malik, Muhammad Tahir Jadoon, Muhammad Raziq, Muhammad Khalid, Mushtaq Ahmad, Anwar Khan, Haibat Khan, Muhammad Sadiq, Shahid Hussain, Sultan Muhammad, Umar Ayaz, Muhammad Haneef, Imanullah, Malik Liaqat and Syed Wajid Ali Shah.
It was claimed that the officials had embezzled funds amounting to Rs100 million through ghost schemes allocated for development under the People’s Works Programme for Mansehra and Torghar districts.
It was stated in the reference that Amber Ali and Zulfiqar Khan were posted as deputy commissioners in Mansehra at the time of the alleged embezzlement. However, the suspects are on bail form the Supreme Court and High Court in the case.
