Six children die of measles in Nowshera

NOWSHERA: Health Department declared Tuesday an emergency in hospitals after six children died of measles that broke out in various parts of the district, officials said.Talking to reporters, Dr Fazal Amin - a physician tasked with carrying out the emergency vaccination drive - said six children including five Afghan nationals died of the crippling disease.
The most affected areas identified by the Health Department are Kund, Nihalpura Kund and Afghan refugees’ camp in Jalozai.Dr Faza Amin revealed that lack of anti-measles vaccination caused the deaths. He said as many as 700 children were administered anti-measles and vitamin-A vaccines during the emergency drive.’
