Nawaz being misguided on Panama Leaks by advisers: Gilani
Says PTI not launching campaign against PPP,
but against corruption in Sindh; lauds army for
launching operation in Katcha areas
MULTAN: Former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s advisers were misguiding him on the Panama Leaks issue.
Talking to The News here on Tuesday, he said that Nawaz Sharif had addressed the nation twice on the issue, which was illogical. Gilani said that Nawaz Sharif did not take the opposition into confidence on finalising the terms of reference for the judicial commission. The former prime minister said that it was the pressure of the opposition that forced the government to constitute the judicial commission. He said that Nawaz Sharif should take the political parties into confidence on the Panama Leaks issue. Gilani said that the PML-N government had included his name in the ECL and allowed former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf to go abroad. He said that Musharraf was wanted by courts in different cases. Gilani said: “My name is included in the ECL without any court order.” He claimed that there were 23 baseless cases against him and he was facing them in courts instead of escaping from the country.
Gilani said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was not launching any campaign against the PPP but it was launching a drive against corruption and the PPP welcomed them in Sindh. Expressing sympathy over the Layyah poisonous sweets incident, Gilani extended his sympathies to the victim families. He said the victims needed better health services in the hospital.
He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had still not visited Layyah where the victims were complaining about ill treatment at the hospital. He lauded the Pakistan Army for carrying out an operation in the Katcha areas and busting the Chhotu gang. He said the army should continue the operation till the arrest of all criminals in the area. He paid tributes to the policemen who were killed during the operation, and expressed sympathies with their families.
