Tax them all
The Panama leaks have disclosed the hidden assets of many rich families around the world, including Pakistan, who have stashed money – legal or illegal – in offshore companies to evade taxes. The irony is that all the talk about a commission is being done to probe the prime minister or his children’s assets, while the others named in the leaks may get away with this.
This speaks volume of the fact that only middle and lower middle classes are in the tax net and open to be harassed by the FBR. Those in the upper class, who have kept millions and billions abroad, cannot be reached by government agencies because of the power and influence they wield. The government needs to do away with this discrimination and collect taxes from every class and make accountable those who have illegal money.
