Mamnoon urges full-fledged drive against corruption
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Monday said the main causes of corruption in society were avarice and erosion of moral and spiritual values, against which there was a need to launch a full-fledged movement.
The president said corruption was a curse which could erode a society. He urged the people to eradicate the menace through collaborated efforts. The youth could play an active role in that regard, he added.
He said the people should discharge their responsibilities and duties with complete sense of honesty and integrity and put the country on the path to progress and prosperity.President Mamnoon also urged the people to fully back the government in completion of mega development projects, being undertaken throughout the country. He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be a game-changer in the entire region and would help realise the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
He was speaking at a ceremony, arranged in connection with the Orphans Day.The president said the government had initiated a number of mega power projects and with their completion loadshedding would completely end by 2018 or would be minimised greatly.
The president said non-provision of proper education and going away from the core values were some of the causes of terrorism. With proper upbringing of coming generations, such issues could be overcome, he added.
The president appreciated welfare organisations like Khubaib Foundation and said such bodies had great significance because they were looking after the deserving children in a society.
