Arrest warrants for witnesses in Kanju case
LAHORE
An anti-terrorism court on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for three witnesses and directed police to produce them by the next hearing on April 30 in Mustafa Kanju illegal weapons case.
The court has issued arrest warrants for witnesses, including Imran Imtiaz, Ghulam Mustafa and Idrees. The court passed the order in illegal weapon case against Mustafa Kanju, the son of former state minister Siddique Khan Kanju. Cantt police had lodged two cases against Mustafa Kanju; one for allegedly killing an orphan boy and other for having illegal weapon in his possession.
Arguments: A cantonment court's judicial magistrate on Monday sought arguments to determine the age of a teenager, accused of killing two young motorcyclists extending physical remand of the accused for three days.
North Cantonment police produced Ibrahim, said to be a 16-year old boy, before judicial magistrate and sought his physical remand. The court allowed plea and granted three-day physical remand.
On Saturday, police had arrested Ibrahim after a road accident which had left two young motorcyclists dead near Fortress Stadium late Friday night.
The police also seized the car (LED-3767). A criminal case was registered against the driver on the complaint of the brother of one of the victims. An eyewitness told the police that a rashly-driven car bumped into a motorcycle near Fortress Stadium as the driver tried to overtake another vehicle. As a result, two young motorcyclists sustained multiple injuries and expired on the spot.
Police later identified both the victims as Abdullah Anwar and Muhammad Zaman. The bodies were handed over to their families.
A police investigator said that Ibrahim along with a young woman Aleena were going somewhere when their vehicle smashed into a motorcycle near Fortress Stadium. Police however had released the woman after initial interrogation. Previously, a duty magistrate had granted physical remand of the accused.
