A full bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday deferred for indefinite period the hearing of connected petitions seeking a ban on MQM and high treason case against its chief.
Bench postponed the hearing as head of the bench Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi was not available.
Earlier, bench had given time to petitioner for filing rejoinder to reply written arguments submitted by Altaf Hussain counsel Asma Jahangir.
Reply submitted that no person or institute could lodge high treason case and it was only authority of the federal government. The petitioners were not aggrieved persons for registration of high treason case and as such the petition was not maintainable.
