Imran has many skeletons in his closet: Pervaiz
Says first PTI chief demands inquiry commission on Panama Leaks, now he is dragging his feet
GUJRANWALA: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan had many skeletons in his closet as he, at first, demanded an inquiry commission to probe the revelations made by the Panama Leaks and was now dragging his feet on the issue.
He said that Imran Khan is a man of no moral values.
Pervaiz Rashid said that the PTI chief first called for forming a inquiry commission on Panama leaks, but was running away from it now when the prime minister had announced its formation.
Talking to the media after the inauguration of a hockey tournament here at Ghakkar, Gujranwala, Pervaiz Rashid said Nawaz Sharif is a man of impeccable character and no one could ever get any proof of his corruption in the past.
Pervaiz Rashid said that the inquiry commission announced by the prime minister would have full powers and it might hire the services of foreign audit firms.
“If Imran Khan has any sportsman spirit, he should support the inquiry commission so that facts could be placed before the nation’’. He said that the government was serving the nation in a right way and its journey would continue till achieving the goal of prosperity and strength.
Earlier, addressing the inaugural ceremony of the sports event, the minister said the government was paying full attention to promoting sports in the country. He said Ghakkar is well known for hockey. “I hope that as a result of government efforts, the national hockey team will soon be on the victory stand again.” Local parliamentarians and officers of the government departments were also present on the occasion.
Agencies add: He said Imran Khan did not recognise any authority, not even that of the Supreme Court. “Is there any civilised country that doesn’t acknowledge the authority of the Supreme Court or the Election Commission,” he asked. Rashid said it seemed Imran Khan had not even read the Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the inquiry commission. He said the incumbent judiciary was reinstated as a result of a movement, and it would bury the politics of accusations.
“That is why Imran Khan is fearful of the commission,” he added. Pervaiz said Imran Khan was supporting the brother of his ex-wife, Zac Goldsmith, in London’s local government elections, instead of a Pakistani, Sadiq Khan, contesting elections there.
