Tevta to start short courses

Tevta and Pakistan Footwear Manufacturing Association (PFMA) Monday signed an agreement under which seven new short-courses will be offered to provide trained manpower for footwear industry. 

Chairperson, Tevta, Irfan Qaiser Shiekh and Chairman, PFMA, Waseem Zakaria signed the agreement while officials from the two sides were present.

The new courses will include Leather Footwear Lasting Operating, Stitching, Marking/Cutting, Design Using CAD/CAM, Assembly & Finishing, Management Skills & Applications and Show Manufacturing Technician.

Irfan Qaiser said the agreement was aimed to bridge the gap between Tevta and PFMA to provide skilled manpower for serving in the footwear industry, adding Tevta would provide training institute, faculty and curriculum whereas PFMA would provide machines and equipment, training consumables, internship, advisory support in curricula modification, expert lectures and job opportunities to passing out students.

Tevta will provide modified curricula, faculty and examination and certification through Trade Testing Board (TTB)/Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE). smuggling: Customs officials on Monday raided a godown at Misri Shah and arrested two people on charges of smuggling.

According to Customs officials, smuggled goods, including heavy bikes, tyres, cloth, welding rods and soap, were seized during the raid. The officials also arrested two accused, Sahib Jan and Aqil Shah.  A case has been registered against them.
