Zarb-e-Aahan under way against criminal gangs in south Punjab: IG
LAHORE: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, has said the Operation Zarb-e-Aahan is progressing under a planned strategy against criminal gangs, dacoits, looters and kidnappers.
During his visit to the frontline of conflict areas in district Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan, the IG said the operation will continue till the elimination of last criminal. He said the morale of Jawans of Punjab Police was high and they were prepared to crush the anti social elements. The Elite police force and Pakistan Rangers Punjab have been taking part in the operation to break the network of criminals and to maintain law and order in the area.
The police had launched a comprehensive operation against the Chotu gang 15 days back. An exchange of fire between the police and criminals with heavy arms continues. The IG visited the area under the control of robbers to boost the morale of policemen, taking part in the operation. RPO Bahawalpur Dr Ehsan Sadiq, RPO Dera Ghazi Khan Rehmatullah Niazi, DPO Rajanpur Ghulam Mubasher Maikan and other officials accompanied the IG amid tight security.
