Belarus team visits NUML

Islamabad: A nine-member delegation of rectors and vice chancellors of the universities of Republic of Belarus, led by First Deputy of the Ministry of Education Belarus Vadim Bogush, visited the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Tuesday and met Rector Major General (r) Zia Ud Din Najam, says a press release.

NUML Director General Brigadier Riaz Ahmed Gondal, deans, registrar, directors and heads of different departments were present on the occasion.

NUML Rector Major General (r) Zia Ud Din Najam, while briefing the delegation about NUML, said that it is the only university of the country which is offering 26 national and international languages and it has seven regional campuses across Pakistan. He said that besides languages, NUML has seven other faculties. The rector said that NUML has more than 14,000 students and is keen to collaborate with Belarussian counterparts to enhance research culture in Pakistan and also eager to start students’ exchange programme with Belarus universities.

Speaking on the occasion, First Deputy of the Ministry of Education of Belarus Vadim Bogush said that NUML should send its students to Belarus universities for higher education and Belarus universities will also send their students to NUML. He said that NUML has the specialty in languages and Belarus can avail this opportunity.

The purpose of their visit was to explore avenues for concrete actionable mutual collaboration and cooperation in the field of education. Ministries of both countries agreed to cooperate with each other to enhance bilateral relations in education sector. According to the accord cooperation in the field of academics and students’ exchange will be made between educational institutes of Pakistan and Belarus and joint research will be conducted in various areas of education.
