Notice to NAB on plea against offshore accounts
LAHORE
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued notice to National Accountability Bureau on a petition seeking directions to Bureau to investigate offshore companies allegedly established by the family members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other politicians.
Justice Shahid Waheed is hearing a petition moved by Pakistan Awami Tehreek through Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry. The counsel submitted that Nawaz Sharif concealed his assets while submitting his nomination papers for elections. He alleged that he also did not show assets of his family members. He said he violated laws of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He submitted wrong information in his nomination papers and thus, he also violated the Constitution, the petitioner stated. He prayed to the court to order NAB to launch inquiry against PM, his family members and other politicians. The court adjourned hearing for tomorrow (Thursday).
