Incompetent police

The D-Chowk sit-in has proved yet again that the Islamabad police are incapable of securing the capital. The force lacks professionalism and is not properly trained to handle mobs. There has not been a full-time inspector general for a while now. This shows the non-serious attitude of the government towards maintaining law and order in the federal capital.
After purging this force of dead wood, a good number of commandoes, snipers and IT-trained personnel should be recruited, in addition to strengthening the force’s investigative and intelligence wings. As a first step, some recently retired army and FC personnel should be inducted into the force.
