Rain related incidents claim four lives in Afghanistan
KABUL: Heavy rainfall has resulted in floods in parts of central Daikundi province of Afghanistan, leaving four people dead, an official said on Sunday.
Raza Sadiqi, head of provincial directorate of response to natural disasters, told Killid Radio that two people were killed in Kiti district, one in Mir Amur district and another in the provincial capital.
“A 60-year-old woman and 12-year-old girl lost their lives due to heavy rainfall and floods in the Giti district,” Sediqi said. “Also, a 25-year-old boy and a shipper lost lives in Miramor district and in the provincial capital.” Sediqi added that it has also caused damage to roads and the connecting districts to the provincial capital had been cut off.
Meanwhile, provincial council of Daikundi says that the provincial directorate for response to natural disaster has no arrangements for responding to the emergency situations.Torrential rains have also hit other parts of the country for the past several days. It has damaged several houses and disrupted transportation in the affected areas, including capital Kabul.
