LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday approved the proposals of giving the status of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to three industrial estates of Punjab, including Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park (QAAP), M-3 Industrial City and Value Addition City.

Chairing a meeting of the Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA), the chief minister said that industrial activities and investment would increase in the province with the setting up of SEZs.

“Facilities are being provided to industrialists and investors on priority basis and increased industrial activities and investment would result in generation of new job opportunities,” he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government took effective steps for promotion of investment and industrial activities and Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) has to work more actively in this regard. The PBIT chief executive officer briefed the meeting on the Special Economic Zone Authority.
