It has become a routine that whenever there is cloudy weather the gas pressure in many localities of city and cantonment areas goes down to zero.

Some days back, the residents of many localities, including Adiala Road, Munawwar Colony, Dhoke Juma, Pirwadhai, Rawat, Gulistan Colony, Defence Road, Morgah, Shakrial, Kurri Road and Girja, remained without gas.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) General Manager (Rawalpindi Region) Muhammad Zahoor, when contacted, said that people face difficulties in cloudy weather otherwise pressure is fine. He admitted that some localities are facing low to zero gas pressure in cloudy weather but they are trying to resolve this issue through ‘Line Laid System’, he claimed. He said that they are taking action against illegal gas connections.

“The weather is fine in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad but we are still facing low to zero gas pressure,” said Bushra Waseem, a resident of Morgah. She blamed the SNGPL for creating difficulties for consumer by stopping gas supply even in fine weather.

“Once again, there is zero gas pressure in stoves in cloudy weather and we are facing problems in cooking food,” said Ammara Arshad, a resident of Munawwar Colony. She said the sellers of LPG, kerosene, firewood and coal have increased prices, making it difficult for middle and lower middle class.
