Kidnapped teenager rescued within 24 hours

The Yousuf Plaza police rescued an abducted teenage boy on Sunday and arrested three kidnappers.
Yousuf Plaza SHO Hussain Bux said on Sunday afternoon, Mohammad Saleem, a resident of Gulberg who worked at a private firm, approached the police station and told them, that his son Danish had left home in his car on Saturday night to play night cricket and kidnapped near Baloch Colony flyover.
The kidnappers called Saleem at 5am and demanded Rs2 million for his son’s release. Then they called at 8:30am. Saleem told them that he could not arrange that much money at such a short notice and negotiations ensued.
The kidnappers threatened to kill his son if the ransom was not paid. The ransom amount was later settled at Rs300,000 at 1:30pm. Saleem agreed to pay Rs180,000 on Sunday and the rest later.
The SHO said they registered an FIR and on the directives of the SSP Central, police negotiated with the kidnappers and called them at the Water Pump Chowrangi for handing over the teenager and collecting the money.
There, the police told the kidnappers to surrender, after which a shootout ensued. The three kidnappers were injured in firing and Danish was safely rescued. The kidnappers were found in possession of three TT pistols, three cell phones and two vehicles, one belonging to the complainant.
They were identified as Rab Nawaz, Musaffar Hussain and Aijaz Ali. The IGP appreciating the efforts of the Yousuf Plaza police announced a reward of Rs100,000 for them. The Karachi police chief too announced a Rs200,000 reward and commendation certificates for the Yousuf Plaza SHO and his team.
Labourer dies
A young labourer was killed while three others were injured after a boiler, in a medicine factory in SITE-B, blew up. The deceased was identified as Idrees Ahmed, 25, while the injured were identified as Saleem, Imran and Umair. They were being rushed to the Civil Hospital when Idrees died on the way.
