Afghanistan, Kenya cancel tours
ISLAMABAD: The proposed tours of Afghan men and Kenyan women cricket teams to Pakistan have been cancelled because of precarious security situation. Afghanistan were to visit Pakistan in mid April, but they have declined to tour for the time being, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official told APP on Thursday.
PCB and Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) were in talks for a series of three ODIs and a four-day match against Pakistan A between April 15 and May 8.
The official said that Kenya’s women team’s tour to Pakistan had also been cancelled. Afghanistan toured Pakistan in 2011 for a series against Pakistan A. They also visited frequently for conditioning camps at the National Cricket Academy. Pakistan hosted Zimbabwe for two T20s and three ODIs last year.
No major team has toured Pakistan since the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team’s bus in Lahore in 2009.
