New IG Sindh
This refers to the news report, ‘IGP Sindh removed, his foreign travel banned’ (March 13). The removal of the Sindh police chief is a good step in the fight against corruption. Some may think otherwise, but it is a fact that the police in Sindh have always carried the tag of being the most corrupt department in the government, and many past incidents are a testimony to this fact.
Ghulam Hyder Jamali has been replaced with Allah Dino Khwaja as the new police chief after the former was accused of making illegal appointments and for unjust disbursement of investigation funds. Jamali had also been indicted by the Sindh High Court in a contempt of court case in December last year. Pakistan is passing through a critical phase and the last thing it needs is people eating its already scarce resources. The removal of Jamali shows that NAB is serious in stopping corruption.
