Environment Day held at NUML

Faculty of Management Sciences of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) organised an Environment Day on the campus to create awareness among students about the importance of green environment and climate change, says a press release.

NUML Rector Major General (r) Zia ud Din Najam was the chief guest of the ceremony while Dean Faculty of Management Sciences Brigadier (r) Maqsoodul Hassan, Directors, Head of Department MS Dr. Naveed Akhtar, head of departments and a large number of faculty and students participated in the environment day. 

The NUML rector while addressing the inauguration ceremony said that pollution has become a world phenomena but situation in developing countries like Pakistan is very worst. “We have to educate our young generation about the benefits of environment to secure the future as global warming has become a global threat”, he said. 

The rector said that past few years earthquakes and floods have become a common factor of our country and the deforestation is the major cause of destruction. He was of the view that there is no planning for plantation of tress and if the situation prevails we have to face more sufferings in future. 

Zia ud Din Najam said that Pakistan is in the list of countries who are likely to face water shortage in coming years, it is the time to aware our youth about the importance of water. He said that we together as nation can defeat any threat but we have to educate our society first and students can play their key role in this regard. The NUML rector inaugurate the ceremony by planting a sapling in NUML lawn and later visited different stalls where students displayed different items regarding green atmosphere.
