NOWSHERA: Four employees of the Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Memorial Hospital sustained burn injuries in an explosion caused by gas leakage in Pabbi, police said.

They said the explosion occurred in the Operation Theatre of the welfare hospital named after the lone son of Awami National Party (ANP) leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain due to a gas leakage from a water geyser. As a result, they said, that four employees of the health facility, including paramedic Tahir, Imran, Shah Mansoor and a class-IV employee Shabbir, sustained wounds.

They said the injured were shifted to a local hospital where the doctors referred one of them to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar owing to his critical condition. The explosion caused panic among the staff members and patients.

Meanwhile, the paramedics staged a protest against the alleged negligence of the administration of the hospital and demanded action against the officials for negligence. Nasir Khan, president of paramedical association, said that gas had been leaking from the water geyser for the last three months.
