MANSEHRA: Maria Khan, the president of Shemale Association in Hazara division, submitted her nomination papers for a provincial assembly constituency on Monday, pledging to address core issues faced by people in the town.
“We are not corrupt like politicians and if people voted me to power, I would address electricity and water issues faced by people on a priority basis,” Maria told media after submitting her nomination papers.
Maria arrived at court premises amid slogans and cheering by a group of transgender community and submitted her nomination papers for PK-31.
“Though successive governments have failed to deliver, let’s hope that coming government would come up to expectations of people,” she said.
This is the first time in history of Mansehra that a transgender person submitted her nomination papers against strong contenders of various political and religious parties.
