We need hospitals
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has quite rightly urged the private corporate sector to utilise its funds under CSR schemes for establishing free treatment facilities across the country for cancer patients. He has announced a donation worth Rs100 million for a cancer care hospital, which is being established in Karachi. He also mentioned that around 75 percent of cancer patients in the country die without getting any proper medical treatment. Keeping in view the gravity of the situation, it is laudable that the PM is taking steps to establish healthcare facilities across the country.
However, there is one thing which the prime minister should carefully analyse. The construction of hospitals is a challenge for the corporate sector. However, the main challenge is to ensure that the facility is being operated in an efficient manner. It is hoped that in order to ensure that citizens have access to quality healthcare, the authorities concerned will take relevant measures and focus on running such facilities efficiently.
