ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has suspended the Senate membership of Interior Minister Rehman Malik.

A three member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the dual nationality case and announced its interim order.

Malik had claimed that he had forfeited his British citizenship but failed to provide sufficient documents to the SC.

The SC had also suspended the National Assembly membership of PPP MNA Farahnaz Ispahani in the same case earlier.

Apart from Farahnaz Ispahani and Rehman Malik, a new petition submitted on Monday also names fourteen other parliamentarians and MPAs holding dual nationalities.

These lawmakers which include Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Baloch and PML-N MNA Khawaja Asif have been issued notices by the Supreme Court.

The court has adjourned the hearing of the case till June 13.

His evil-doings and wrongs against this nation are far greater than this. Well done SC.

Do let him run away to his masters. Nip him early. His character is very dubious from the beginning. He tried to get ISI under his control. He allowed access to sensitive places in Pakistan to foreign agents. He extended the stay of foreign agents without any secrutiny. He did many other serious crimes against this nation. Hold him accountable for his crimes.

There are also many other senior official lairs who say one thing and do something else who have irreparably damaged Pakistan's image internationally.

Landmark decision. I, as a common man, have heaved a sigh of relief.

Good job by the court, judgement should be handed over to all dual national lawmakers instead of singling out a particular party .

What about the legality or otherwise of the actions/decisions he must have made during his unconstitutional membership of parliament and as a minister? Further the court could have asked him to vomit the salary, fringe benefits and transportation benefits he has been availing all this period.Because an egg can't be partly rotten. And enlist him in the exit control list.
