ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to accord priority to Civil Services reforms to ensure good governance so that provision of improved service to the people at their doorsteps should materialise.
According to PM House, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held high echelon meeting in the PM House Office despite it being Sunday. He took stock of the working done so far regarding Civil Services reforms.
The prime minister also carried other official business during the day. Senior PM Office officials also attended the office.The premier spent a busy day in the office on Sunday. Chairing the lengthy meeting on Civil Services reforms, he noticed that various consecutive governments didn’t pay due attention to the vital matter although experts had submitted comprehensive reports on the purpose.
The reform agenda of the government was threadbare discussed in the meeting and it was decided that Evaluation, Monitoring and Delivery Cell would (EMDC) should immediately be set up in the PM Office for keeping a watch on the working of key ministries on scientific lines.
A follow-up meeting on setting up of the cell would take place today (Monday) to discuss matters related to future course of action and completion of the process on a rapid pace.The reports submitted by the experts were further studied in the meeting, the sources added.
