PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s session was adjourned without any proceedings for lack of quorum on Friday.
Just after recitation from the Holy Quran, Deputy Speaker Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, who was presiding over the session, asked for resuming the question hour when Bakht Baidar Khan of the Qaumi Watan Party pointed out the lack of quorum.
Hardly a dozen members were present in the House. After headcount, the speaker ordered ringing the bells. In the meanwhile, some more members arrived in the House. However, after recounting the quorum was found to be incomplete as only 28 members were present.
The speaker first hinted at taking a break but then adjourned the session till February 19 as mostly treasury members, including the ministers, were absent. Besides two bills and a call attention notice, questions about the much publicized ‘Billion Tree Tsunami’ project were on the agenda. But the chair adjourned the session without initiating the proceedings due to lack of quorum.
