Two alleged criminals, said to be affiliated with a Lyrai gang, were gunned down by police during a shootout in Usmanabad area, according to the Kalakot police.
Police said a raid was conducted in the wee hours of Saturday to apprehend members of the Baba Ladla group, who engaged the raiding team in a gun battle. Two criminals were arrested in injured condition, while their accomplices managed to make a getaway.
Sophisticated weapons were found on the arrested gangsters, identified as Qasim and Saddam Baloch, who were pronounced dead on arrival at the Civil Hospital. Police said they belonged to the Baba Ladla group and were wanted in cases of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and grenade attacks. During the search of their hideout, a Kalashnikov, a pistol, two RPG grenades and 300 bullets of G3 rifle were also seized.
