PESHAWAR: The seventh Muharram Alam and Zuljinah processions were brought out from Imambargah Agha Syed Alam Shah Jaffri at Chowk Nasir Khan amid tight security.
The participants of the procession that was led by secretary general of Imamia Jirga Sardar Sajjad Hussain passed through different bazaars and streets of the city including Qissa Khwani Bazaar, Kabuli Gate and Kohati Gate.
The procession culminated at the place, where it had started. Some of the mourners went to the imambargah to attend the Majlis-e-Azza. A Zuljinah procession was taken out from Jehangirpura. It passed through its traditional route.
The members of the Imamia and Imamia Open Scouts, Mukhtar Forces, Imamia Students Organisation, Ibraheem, Wahdat and Hussaini scouts were deployed for the security of the procession.
The representatives of different political parties and trader organisations also participated in the procession. In Peshawar Cantonment, a procession was taken out from MES Colony, which ended at the Imambargah Hussainia Hall on Saddar Road.
At imambargah Azzakhana Kararvi, a mourning session was arranged. The mourning sessions were also arranged at all other imambargahs in the city, wherein the speakers highlighted the importance of Ashura, Karbala and the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
