NOWSHERA: The slain scholar, Maulana Ameer Hamza, who was killed by unidentified gunmen a day earlier, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Kanakhel village on Saturday.
A large number of people attended his funeral.
Meanwhile, the activists of various parties led by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Sheikh Amanullah Khan took out protest procession. They chanted slogans against the government for its failure to maintain peace and demanded early arrest of the culprits involved in the target killing of the noted scholar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mufti Muhammad, Sajjad, Muhammad Waleed Akhtar, Mufti Hakim Ali Haqqani, Qari Abid Shah, Mufti Asad Ayaz, Awami National Party (ANP) district president Malik Juma Khan and others said that the Ulema would continue their struggle to implement a true Islamic system in the country. They threatened to continue their protest if the government failed to arrest the accused within 72 hours.
