PESHAWAR: The police rounded up 568 suspects in the ongoing search and strike operation being conducted under the National Action Plan all over the province.During the operation, 595 houses and 407 hotels were searched and 18 cases were registered against the violators of the Tenant Act. During snap checking at 154 checkpoints, 332 suspects were held and 136 arms of different kinds and 22,699 cartridges recovered.Also, during action against illegal Afghans, a total of 49 persons were detained on violation and 31 cases were registered against them. Two persons were arrested for misusing loudspeaker.

KOHAT: The police seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrested an alleged arms trafficker in Cantonment area here on Tuesday, officials said.The officials said the police recovered arms and ammunition, which were concealed in secret cavities of a car. They said the police recovered 20 guns of various bores, 70 pistols, parts of prohibited arms, 20,000 cartridges, 500 magazines from the vehicle and arrested an alleged smuggler Akram Hussian.
Two DPOs transferred

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police authorities on Tuesday transferred and posted two district police officers (DPOs).According to a notification, SP Operations (Mardan) Ali Akbar Shah was transferred and posted as Lakki Marwat DPO while his predecessor, Mohammad Ismail, was posted as SSP Coordination Peshawar.
QWP activists join ANP

CHARSADDA: Tens of activists of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Tuesday resigned from the party and announced joining the Awami National Party (ANP).Dilawar Khan Advocate along with his family members, friends, well-wishers and supporters announced joining the ANP at a press conference held here. Former provincial minister and ANP district president Arshad Abdullah, ex-member provincial minister Shakeel Bashir Khan and others were present on the occasion.
Man shot dead in Jamrud

JAMRUD: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a man in Shodani area in Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency on Tuesday, official sources said.They said that one Shah Muhammad was on his way home when unidentified gunmen fired at him in Shodani area, killing him on the spot. Motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.The Khassadar force registered the case and started an investigation.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani suspended in-charge investigation at the Badaber Police Station on a complaint and ordered departmental inquiry against him on Tuesday.A citizen had complained to the IGP through an SMS in which he alleged that Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Tariq Umar arrested a criminal wanted in heinous cases of kidnapping for ransom and dacoity, but later released him after getting gratification.The police chief get probed the matter through DIG Enquiry and Inspection who in his report termed the public complaints based on facts.
