BANNU: A militant was killed while a soldier sustained injuries in a clash in Domanza village in the limits of Township Police Station on Friday, sources said. The source said that the security forces were carrying out search and strike operation in the Domanza village when a militant identified as Noor Zaman opened fire on them.
The forces returned the fire that continued for sometime during which the militant was killed while a soldier Abdul Khaliq sustained injuries. He was rushed to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.
It was learnt that the slain militant was imprisoned in the Bannu District Prison for murdering his mother but he had escaped during the jailbreak on April 14, 2012. Meanwhile, the security forces demolished the houses of four militants, including Ghaniullah, Nazeerullah, Waliullah and Rab Nawaz, in Janikhel area in the Frontier Region (FR) Bannu. The forces arrested five militants during search in Janikhel area on Wednesday last and recovered arms and explosive materials from them. Similarly, the police recovered four bodies during the last 24 hours from different areas in the district. The unclaimed bodies were buried in a local graveyard.
