In connection with the World Post Day, a flag hoisting ceremony and an exhibition of commemorative stamps were held at the Rawalpindi GPO on Friday, says a press release.
On the occasion, the chief guest, President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Mian Humayun Pervez and Deputy Postmaster General (Northern Punjab Circle Rawalpindi) hoisted the Universal Postal Union (UPU) flag.
RCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Rafique, officers and officials of Pakistan Post, philatelists and students of schools and colleges also attended the ceremony. The message of Director General, Universal Postal Union was read out on the occasion, in which it’s told that indeed; the Post can pride itself on being the oldest medium of communication, one that all still plays a key role in the transfer of information and goods. Customer’s expectations, needs and requirements are changing, and the Post must improve as well to meet the new demands of the people. The Deputy Postmaster General (Northern Punjab Circle Rawalpindi) Sami Ullah Khan told that Pakistan Post has to change the mode of services according to modern technologies and to the expectations and needs of the customers, in this regard, all possible efforts are in process to enhance the services.
Chief guest Mian Humayun Pervez expressed his satisfaction on postal services, and said the importance of the Pakistan Post cannot be ignored and this department excellently provided the services to its customers.
On the occasion, the philatelists and students shown keen interest in the exhibition of commemorative stamps. The students also visited different counters of the GPO. A senior officer briefed them about the services of Savings, Express Post Centre, Pension payments and Philatelic Bureau.
