Fee adjustment reports sought from private schools

Islamabad: The watchdog for private education in Islamabad, PEIRA, has set the October 15 deadline for local privately-owned schools to file fee adjustment compliance report.
Lately, the prime minister had ordered the sealing of the city’s private schools not refunding or adjusting extra fee in line with his orders for freeze on private school fee during the current year.
Most schools have formally informed parents of their students that they will adjust in the next bills the extra fee charged for the ongoing session lately.
However, some have yet to comply with the orders.
In this light, PEIRA Secretary Javed Iqbal has written separate letters to the principals of all private schools functioning within territorial jurisdiction of Islamabad Capital Territory asking them to send in their respective reports of compliance with the September 23, 2015 PEIRA notification on adjustment or refund of extra fee until October 15, 2015.
There is a likelihood of the PEIRA cracking down on schools not complying with the order.
The PEIRA administratively overseen by the Capital Administration and Development Division has been under fire over failure to regulate the city’s private schools, most of which increased fees unprecedently on their own of late prompting public outrage and the subsequent intervention by the prime minister.
