The Administration of Razmak Cadet College (RCC), located in North Waziristan Agency (NWA), has decided to re-open the educational institution from October 2, 2015. However, parents are demanding an assurance of foolproof safety and security of their children.
As a result of military operation against militants and returning of normalcy in the area, it was decided by administration of Razmak Cadet College to reopen the educational institution for resuming academic and other activities at their own premises.
Earlier, this college was shifted to Nowshera Cantonment when law and order situation was not ripe in Razmak.
But the worried parents are inquiring as to who would take the responsibility of assuring safety and security of around 500 children studying in this institution.
Once a student of this institution, Lt Col (R) Tahir Qayum took over as principal of the college a few years back and took crucial steps for the betterment of students, as he was the one who decided to shift the college when the security situation was not ripe in the area. He took pains to shift the students by accommodating them at the safe place.
This correspondent made efforts to contact the principal on his mobile but it was found switched off in the last two days.
The parents are inquiring whether the administration including the Principal was shifting his family and children to the Razmak Cadet College in order to give them sense of security or only their kids would be shifted to the original premises.
Some parents stated that the decision has been taken by the higher authorities without taking the parents on board. A group of parents gathered in Peshawar to agitate against, what they called, the wrong decision taken by the competent authority.
They were of the view that the students had already availed three months' summer vacation during the current academic year and will again not going back to the college due to heavy snowfall, adding that the college will be closed in 1st week of November till mid-March 2016.
The law and order situation in that area is still not in favour of students as nobody is safe in Peshawar then how can it be expected that students will be safe in the NWA.
